A couple of weeks ago we travelled to Sutherland area in the highlands of Scotland for a break from routine. We found ourselves close to the River Laxford. The river’s length is 5 km and rises from Loch Stack and flows into Loch Laxford at Laxford Bridge. Wild camping by the lovely Laxford river was completely private and we found a great spot to stop with a path running down to the riverbank and along to a sheltered area where we sat and admired the lovely river views. Taiga the Dog really enjoyed the late evening skies below Ben Stack. The next day we travelled on to Durness and stopped at an amazing beach with strange rock formations with layers of colour.
The scenery was lovely and well worth a visit. I am still glad though, that I live in the Cairngorms where on any one day I can see rivers, lochs, mountains, snow, lush green fields and bright sunshine – sometimes all at the same time!
