To celebrate the arrival of spring, we’ve hooked up with Grantown-based activity extraordinaires Craggan Outdoors to offer all guests of The Smugglers Hostel 15% off advance bookings*.
We spoke to Keith, who runs Craggan Outdoors with his wife, Jill. The couple purchased the company in 2008, five years after it was first set up, and five years on they’ve more than doubled the size of the business. Twice nominated for Best Visitor Attraction in the Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards, Craggan Outdoors rightfully took the title in 2012.
“Archery is our most popular activity every year,” said Keith. “It’s so accessible for people of pretty much any age and fitness to do, with no need for specialist clothing or getting wet.” Another top activity (literally) is high ropes, pictured below. “High ropes is popular across the board, including school groups and other youth groups such as Scouts and Boys’ Brigade, stag and hens, and also Armed Forces groups.”
For guests of the Hostel, Keith has a special recommendation: “Close on the heels of the top activities is gorge walking. This is a thrilling activity that few people have tried before, which takes place in a small gorge not far from The Smugglers Hostel. Walk, wade, swim, scramble and clamber up a series of small waterfalls, gullies and shoots, take the big step into the plunge pool at the top, and then slip and slide all the way back down again. Exhilarating!” Sounds fun? Get in touch to find out how you can enjoy a 15% discount at Craggan Outdoors*.
*A 15% discount applies to bookings made in advance of your stay at The Smugglers Hostel only. All bookings must comply with Craggan Outdoors’ Terms and Conditions. Craggan Outdoors are unable to offer a discount for golf or fishing. The following activities are available from local providers: clay pigeon shooting, pony trekking, and guided mountain biking.
