By Road
From the North (Inverness) Travel South on the A9 to Carrbridge then take the A938/A95 to Grantown on Spey before joining the A939 which you follow for 12 miles to Tomintoul.
From the North (Keith) Travel 10 miles on the A941 to Dufftown, continue through the town taking the B9008/9 and travel a further 18 miles to Tomintoul.
From the South (Perth) Travel North on the A9 to Aviemore and then follow the A95 to Grantown on Spey before joining the A939 which you will follow for 12 miles to Tomintoul. Alternatively travel North on the A93 via Braemar, and travel a further 30 miles along part of the Old Military Road over the Lecht to Tomintoul.
From the South (Aberdeen) Travel West out of Aberdeen for 60 miles passing through Dunecht, Sauchen and Strathdon before joining the Old Military Road, travelling over the Lecht and into Tomintoul.
By Air
We are well situated for both Aberdeen (60 miles) and Inverness (47 miles) International Airports.
Car hire can be arranged in advance or at the airport for collection on arrival.
By Bus
The Citylink bus services from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness connect to Aviemore and the Citylink services from Dundee and Aberdeen connect to Keith.
Local bus services to Tomintoul operate from Elgin and Keith once a week throughout the year. The school bus can also be used to connect with Elgin-Aberlour buses every weekday during term time. Please contact the hostel for further details.
By Train
Aviemore and Keith are also the nearest train stations, both 28 miles away with frequent daily services connecting with all key Scottish cities.
Taxi services are then available from both Aviemore and Keith for approximately £60.
